It hit 30 degrees in the mornings here and that’s right springy weather. So this week I hit the pavement. There’s just nothing like running on the lakefront, the ache in my lungs, the bite of cold air, the burn in my legs. It feels so goo-ooooooood!

And suddenly my mind is alive and overflowing with new ideas. Something about that increased blood flow and oxygen to the brain, or maybe something to do with the rhythmic movement, allows the mind to release. So if you’re ever having a creative block, just start running. Run, run, run. Feel the burn!

  1. The weather was so good this weekend that I wanted to take out my bike or at least run a bit. Never got the chance, and now it’s snowing 🙁 Oh well. Good weather will be here soon. Enjoy the running!

  2. Good for you, Liesl!

I’ve been meaning to exercise more – really, I have – but right now, working on my WIP is just more important to me. And so I sit here, muscles growing flabbier by the second, looking back with fondness on those happy high school days when I ran for the sheer fun of it.

And I even live in southern Nevada, where we hit a downright pleasant 70 degrees last week…

I need to stop pretending like I’m a bear and start running again. The only trouble is that bears are so much more comfortable to play this time of year.

Maybe I should stop pretending that I’m a Polar Bear. It was 25 yesterday morning and I’m pretty sure 20 degrees colder with the windchill on the lakefront. No inspiration. Just brain-freeze. I can spell I-D-I-O-T.
