My posts may be sparse/absent for the next week or so as I’m very absorbed in revising Herbert. It’s going well so far, and my goal is to have the revisions finished by the 15th so I can send it out to beta-readers. I’m ahead of schedule at the moment, so huzzah for me.

But really what I want to say is that I love revising. I know it’s supposed to be the real dirty work of writing, and some people make it sound like it’s akin to gouging your eyes out, but revisions make me happy. It’s so satisfying to take a string of words, or a paragraph, or a chapter, and rework them in a way that sings. Because it’s never what you say, it’s the way you say it. I hope to say things in such a way that people will remember.

I am totally, 100% with you! I love revisions. That’s when the story really comes alive for me! Can’t wait to read it!

  1. Go, go, go, Liesl! I’ve learned to like revising a lot more with Bob. It’s not until you realize how crappy first drafts are that you come to appreciate the beauty of revising:)

  2. I envy your enjoyment of it, because it’s not my favorite part. I’m all about the first draft!

Sounds like Herbert is gonna be awesome. 🙂

It must feel so good to be finished with it. Good luck on the revising, and I can’t wait to read Herbert!

I can see the appeal of the revising stage, because it’s that much closer to being perfected enough to send out to agents. 🙂

  3. don’t cheat on Herbert!

Goblynboo- Lol! I am being sooooo faithful to Herbert. (Even though that other idea is being very seductive.)

    Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

  4. I hated revisions at one time but now I enjoy them. Have fun with the fun part.
